Prague Zoo – We start in 4 days

The first race of GAPP Czech O-Tour 2025 is here and more than 2200 orienteers are looking forward to one of the most beautiful locations we can wish for orienteering – Prague Zoo! Let’s take a look at the most important information before the race.

Most important info

• You have to enter the Prague Zoo through the main entrance – there you will receive a ticket to the zoo and a wrist-band for the baggage storage
  • Attention! Once you pass through the turnstile into the zoo, you can’t go back to your car from the zoo and then return there! (The ticket is only valid for a single entry).
• You can use the a baggage storage room before the race.
  • Tag your baggage with one wrist-band and put the other one on your wrist.
  • The concept of storage room is also new for us, leave plenty of time to store your bags, try to reduce the size of your baggage. And last but not least, be lenient 🙂
• The first racers will hit the course at 9:00am (the Zoo opens for racers at 8:00am), the public categories (HDR, OPEN, T) can start anytime between 9:00–13:00.
  • Startlist
• It is a normal visitor day at the zoo and there are visitors, staff and electric supply vehicles moving around.
• Most of the map is olive, watch out for restricted areas and impassable symbols. Prohibited areas include the zoo’s technical facilities, animal enclosures, aviaries, pavilions with photo booth doors, or public enclosures with access through double doors (always indicated on the map by a building or olive tree).
• You can only visit the zoo after completing the race itself until the end of opening hours at 16:00!

What’s next for you at the zoo?

• The little competitors will be taken care of: Kubík’s Kindregarten will be prepared right in the arena and there will be a minirace at the start.
• Photo booth: Take a great photo as a souvenir. There will be a free GAPP photo booth throughout the day!
• Prize-giving: After the race we will award all participants in the HDR, DH10F and DH10 categories. In addition, the TOP 3 in DH12, DH14A and DH14B. There will be also prizes for the winners of the other categories.
• Czech O-Tour news: The O-RUN sport shop offers a Czech O-Tour jersey with a new design, you can donate to endangered species, help by donating old dioptric glasses for Africa or unused mobile phones as a contribution to gorilla conservation.
