GAPP Czech O-Tour heads to Vyšší Brod – All you need to know

There are only a few days left until the start of the GAPP Czech O-Tour and the World Cup in Vyšší Brod. What can you expect, what should you watch out for, and what information should you be sure not to miss? You’ll find it all in this article.

Accommodation Bulletin

  • You can find all the info (start lists, live results, Livelox, etc.) in the live section on the o-tour.cz website.
  • You’ll have time to compete in the Czech O-Tour and cheer on the World Cup (check out the full programme in the Bulletin 2 or on the wcup.cz website). Spectator info is here!
  • You can find all the information about Český Krumlov in the separate Bulletin 2 for Český Krumlov.
  • Want to make a late entry or change your SI card? You can do it all online via dohlas.se.
  • The event arena is located in Martínkov (GPS: 48.6008N, 14.2913E)
  • Upon entering the arena (or at the timing station in Český Krumlov), you’ll receive a wristband (ticket) that allows you to re-enter the arena, including for the evening ceremonies. Registered Czech O-Tour competitors have free admission and do not need to purchase a ticket!
  • Access to the arena is one-way and is only possible from the direction of Studánky (see map)!
  • Don’t forget to pay for parking at the arena in advance online – via dohlas.se.
  • Take the bus to the arena – we highly recommend it! You’ll save yourself the drive, and at the arena you can enjoy delicious beer from the Rožmberk Brewery! Order your tickets in advance via dohlas.se.
  • The first stage starts at 13:00. On your way to the start (1800 m), you’ll pass through the finish area, where refreshments and toilets will be available.
  • The second stage (starting at 10:00, 600 m) has two finishes – one right in the arena for the longer courses, and the other 600 m away.
  • Saturday will be dedicated to Stage 3 (starting at 10:00, 1100 m with 80 meters of elevation gain!) – on your way to the start, you’ll once again pass by the finish, where refreshments will be available.
  • The final stage (starting at 10:00, 1000 m) will be the highlight of the event. Once again, there will be two finishes – one right in the arena (be careful when crossing the road), and the other near the start.
  • The weather forecast calls for extreme heat, but also rain and the possibility of thunderstorms!
    • Don’t underestimate the situation!
    • There is almost no shade in the arena; in case of direct sunlight, we recommend wearing a hat, applying sunscreen, and staying well-hydrated. You may also set up your own shelters.
    • In case of rain, don’t forget to bring your own waterproof jacket or raincoat. For safety reasons, please use umbrellas sparingly.
    • What to do in case of an emergency or injury is described in the Bulletin 2.
  • A variety of activities in the arena for everyone!
  • An adventure race for the little ones – orienteering course in the arena with tasks to complete or an obstacle course awaits you. A different course every day, and a medal for everyone at the finish.
  • Sporticus labyrinth – a new maze and new courses every day.
  • GAPP Relax Zone and Wall of Mistakes – here you can relax after the race or watch the World Cup. After the race, you’ll find a large race map here where you can show off where you got lost or where you really enjoyed yourself.
  • There will also be a temporary Venku.app location.
  • On Friday, you can look forward to a bounce house, and on Sunday, the GAPP photo booth with free photo sessions and printing.
  • Kubík children’s corner will be set up in the Martínkov Arena for as long as necessary while parents are competing.
  • You’ll find new Czech O-Tour merchandise and fan jerseys at the O-RUN booth.
  • And don’t forget to visit the other sport shops – there will be plenty of them!
  • You won’t be bored even after the races
    • Is racing not enough for you? You can add a training session right near Vyšší Brod (more info in the Bulletin 2).
  • The opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday at 16:45 on the square right in Vyšší Brod, followed by a concert and the opening of the new Venku.app location.
  • On Thursday at 20:00 at the movie theater, there will be a live podcast of “Správným směrem” with P. Kubásek and T. Rauturier (reservations required in advance; capacity is limited).
  • The first medal ceremony will take place on Friday at 19:00 in the Monastery Gardens in Vyšší Brod, featuring a concert. Immediately following the ceremony, on Friday at 19:30, there will be a meet-and-greet with the Czech national team and an autograph session.
  • On Saturday at 19:00 the second medal ceremony will take place in the Monastery Gardens in Vyšší Brod, featuring a concert .
  • A new Venku.app location is also available in Lipno nad Vltavou.
