Czech O-Tour series continues in 2023
This year, the Czech O-Tour series took place in the footsteps of the World Orienteering Championship 2021, during which spectator races could not be held. More than 2,400 participants who ran at least one race, very positive responses and interesting connections with other international events gave rise to the next year of the Czech O-Tour. What have we prepared for you?
Plzeň, Kokořínsko, Šumava
Three series of races await you, similar to the ones in 2022. We will start in Plzeň region on the first weekend of April in the location where the Junior World Orienteering Championship 2024 will be held, the races will also be the culmination of the first training camp before the JWOC. The races will be held in a beautiful, newly mapped terrain near the Ejpovice water reservoir, just 40 minutes from Prague. It will continue at the beginning of August in Kokořínsko region – during the Orienteering World Cup, 4 races will take place, and 3 of them will be in sandstone rocky World cup terrains. The whole series ends with an amazing location that many of you wrote about: the area around Kubova Huť in Šumava. This virgin terrain has never been mapped, the highest railway line in the Czech Republic leads to it, and just across the road you can reach the Boubín lookout or the Boubín Forest. A total of 8 races await you, each completely unique.

We have prepared a special offer: the Christmas pre-registration period, when the entry fee will be at the same price as this year’s. For this pre-sale, we release 500 starting places for each individual race, you can register for the entire series without limiting the number of starters. The launch of this offer will take place on December 1 at 20:23 and will last until midnight on January 31, when we will launch the basic entry period with a slightly increased entry fee.
Categories and Club competition
For the most part, the proposed categories will remain for this year with slight modifications in the masters (DH70 and DH80 added) and hobby categories. 7 races out of 8 will count towards the overall rating. We are also expanding the Club competition. A total of 8 clubs will receive valuable prizes, the evaluation system remains the same as last year. During the winter, we will also improve the OTour mobile application, which offers all services (startlists, results, rankings).
News
In general, in the coming year, in addition to high-quality tracks and exclusive terrains, we would like to focus on service for competitors and the sustainability of all races (to improve not only waste management in the arenas, but also to minimize the production of some materials). We will prepare special OTour trainings, we will offer shoe testing in the arena, after the races you will be able to complain on the Wall of Mistakes. As part of the refreshments offered, we will focus on local ingredients and support of local companies. We will inform you about all news and interesting things on the website o-tour.cz or social networks @czechotour.
